Thanks a million. Can FIRST DEGREE Engineering give it a trial?
I can see that Age is now a barrier to obtain job in World Bank despite ones experience and qualification (MSC degree). God bless you.
thanks i appreciate, but i dont ve a master degree, but i can do what i master degree can do,world bank is place where to create a synergyl, cheers
I have Masters in Electronic Eng but I will like to work for world bank in Nigeria. I live in London
it sounds cool. c yah
its great but is it strictly for master degree holders.what of people with B.sc degree and so many years of experience in our fields
you would have done a very good job by taking minimum of Bsc. some people passed through thick and thin to have their first degree let alone Masters. Be considerate when you are on a top of a ladder. You need people down here to hold you up…
Hi all,
I’v seen the responses of several people on this advert and I am saddened taht Nigerians think this way. How on earth would someone say he has a Bachelors degree and he can do what a Masters deg holder cannot! such a daft statement. So why do we have Masters degree on that case? why does he aspire to own an higher degree in that case? Please lets learn to give honor to whom honour is due and God who lifts up irrespective of what degree you have will lift you up. Thanks
Great response from Olaolu Soyode. We need to build on our career inorder to move up the ladder of academic excellence. Having a Masters Degree shows ur level of commitment to moving up higher. Remain blessed.
Why requesting for master’s degree since the programme is for young professionals, which is the starting point for an exciting career in World Bank?Let there be sincerity of purpose in the minimum requirement.
laffffsssss
i dont ve a master degree but all the same ve applied and i hope to hear from u. i promise to do my best. thanks
good job
World bank job no for small people,it is for those who are experienced.Anyway i will apply for the thrill.
good offer, but what about those who dont have masters, i strongly feel we shld be given a chance.
thank you
Thanks for the opportunity but is it only for masters degree holders?
It’s amazing that the world Bank is interested in recruiting Nigerian graduates.Anyway, kudos to u guys.
Whao! this is my dream world but the requirement has flush me out.please kindly give we first degree holder an opportunity to deliver what we learnt during our degree programme and also to use the experience we were equipped with doing our service year to develop the world bank. i study economics in a well know nigeria university and i am serving at deloitte nigeria.
WHY ONLY MASTER? WE HAVE BSC GRADUATES THAT CAN ALSO DELIVER WE APPRECIATE YOUR EFFORT, BUT GIVE YOUNG GRADUATE WITH DEGREE HOLDER AN OPPORTUNITY. WE WILL APPRECIATE IT.
THANKS
I would be ACCA chartered by june 2009 is that okay a qualification
Its is not their Fault, even indigineous companies are not helping matters by grade discrimination. what is the different from first class, upper and lowwer.people shold be given opportunity to sit for the same exam.this is fair enough than to require 2-1 from all universities after all they didnot sit for the same exam
HEy definately not 4 fresh graduates. thanks anyway
Great opportunity, I hope they are not just playing with us!!!
I see this as opportunity for Nigerians studying abroad most especially in the UK where job application is like A CAMEL PASSING THROUGH A NEEDLE HOLE!!!!
It aint been easy getting a job here in the UK even with the MSc degree……..I hope this works!!!
See it as an opportunity to come back home and help develop Nigeria. There’s no place like HOME!!!
I would suggest there is need for cooperation among Nigeria graduates who are job seekers. I believe if we all spend our time assisting each other. We may achieve a lot than placing accusing fingers why a particular employer is demanding for a specific qualification. I will do my best to use the World Bank Scenario to explain my point. The World Bank as the name implies has sensitive and specific roles it plays to member countries. For you to be an employee, you need to be focused, can work under pressure, accommodate stress when it calls for it e.t.c. I can see most of you already saying I can do all that. Yes you can but not consistently. This is what a Masters program offers. It is a one year programme where you are constantly under pressure to hand in assignments before dead lines. Some programmes are that rigid that if you fail a particular course, you are out of the programme.
Now back to the World Bank. Individuals who have gone through such training (Master training) are expected to have gone through the basic rudiments of working under pressure, being focused while under pressure, adhering to deadlines for projects e.t.c. Take for example a project is to be completed in x hours or 2million people will die. How do you stand a chance of completing that project if you have not been taught how to work under pressure and still place your eyes on the propose goal. I will want to stop here in regards the reason for a Masters qualification. And spend my time doing what I suggested at the beginning.
First, for those applying without a Master’s degree it is a sincere waste of your time. Secondly, the programme is not only for Nigerians, is for any young profession that is a citizen of a member country of the World Bank. Thirdly, if you are taken you may not necessarily work in Nigeria. You may be posted to any developing country i.e. Sudan, Rwanda, Chad, Somalia (hope you get the picture now, why individuals with some level of maturity is needed). For those that have doubt on the requirement visit the World Bank’s website for clarification.
I pray the Good Lord help us all in our various aspirations in life. Amen
Its great. But while Masters Degree? Are Chartered Accountants equivalent to Masters Degree Holders?
Anyway, thanks 4 work well done.
who are u to question the minimum qualification needed by an organisation? would you be surprise if they say that the minimum qualification is PHD and the candidate not more than 25? because i read 2 weeks ago that an 18 year old girl becomes the world’s youngest professor, that means, there a other profs younger than 25 yrs.
Just look out for the job that match ur qualification and all that employment stuff and go 4 it. stop asking too many questions and throwing blames. Save the thinking energy for how u can become an employer n get all those coming up fixed; Hit ur brain and get creative, lots of problems to solve which can turn u into a billionaire if only u can see it.
completed my masters, but awaiting result. am i qualified?
you guys are realy doing what most organisations are still lacking
Good contribution from proff. anyway we the Bsc holders have many job oppertunities around which we can apply for, so lets keep applying for those that met our qualification instead of feeling bad about a company seeking to hire a master’s degree holder.
THANK YOU FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY.

I have read these comments and indeed I am saddened that many of you claim to have BSc degrees but cannot comprehend the difference between a Bsc and Msc. Besides you do not have to be old to have you Msc, I am 25 and I have my Msc and will have my Phd by 27. I am not the youngest, many of my colleagues that are as young as 22 have masters degrees. Like nos 15,16 and 33 said, you need to work hard to get what you want and apply for jobs that you have a shot at getting.
I wish everybody the best.
i am a fresh graduate dnt av the M.sc yet but hope to go for it very soon.Does that i cant get a job to do since my parents cannot afford to sponsor me further believin g they av tried to get me bcome a graduate,Pls help.
equal opportunities should be given to all,be it master or first degree
i am currently undergoing a master degree ,is it ok to go ahead and applybecause i wont be done before july 15th tho i will be writing my thesis by that time,i wont have obtained my master degree yet,can i go ahead and apply
A very good, commendable idea that should have nothing but the utmost thanks to the employees and staffs of the World Bank for you have made this a golden opportunity.
hii,am intrested in this job but i dont know how to apply.
na wa oh!… olaolu soyode and itebe sam, proper naijas i think. why pocknose on other peoples afair, everyone has a right 2 say wat he or she want, say urs and stop countering peoples efforts and mind. its a free world remember!!!!!!!!! anyway, am quite interested but i only have bsc honors. pls world bank, limit ur qualification expectation since u say its for the young cos i believe dat dat could also be a perfect starting point.
Thanks for this great opportunity. I’ve already concluded my Masters but yet to collect my certificate. Please am i eligible?
Let’s give it a trial
Welldone guys.U are really doing great job.
Am a fresh graduate and am presently doing my youth service. My question is that are going to place this offer every year or the offer is only for this year alone?
Thanks.
what about ND holder?
thanks
Tremendous opportunity from World Bank. Don’t ve Masters. But undergoing a professional course in Computer Engr.
Well, everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. Soyede and Sam spoke well but were a bit harsh in their responses. ‘Yere’, especially should take it easy. First of all yere, I want to believe ur Masters /phd in view should be oversees. Sincerely, only those who went to private university(with exception from few Fed. institution) in Nig. rounds off on time. Imagine incessant ASU strike some years back which created a mini set back for aspiring young undergrad. So count yoursef blessed to have ‘attained/more achievement.’
This opportunity(masters recruitment) shouldn’t take us by suprise; we ought to have been more sensitive. Graduates is just like obtaining a secondary school cert (pls don’t quote me wrong: What I meant is most people are graduates just as we have secondary school cert holders. “-so BSC don becom pure water” Don’t be perturbed again if another opportunity comes up in 2009/2010 requesting only for those who have PHD.
Personally, masters prog is expensive for me . So I resolve to go into one /2 professional courses in computer engr. which I could pay without sweating. Am running the professional course now. Some could emulate that, pending the time u have a better plum job where u could sponsor yoursef without much ado.
Definitely! Would still go for my masters. Seriously looking for a plum job inother to commence my masters as soon as feasible. Insted of folding arms, am doing what I know I could do best. So, young graduates yet to have masters, save some cash and try to put in for one/two prof. courses in computer for world is growing.
More opportunities will come your way soon. If u can afford masters prog, go for it otherwise…
All the best.
Its really nice to know there is job oppurtunites available for graduates but the problem is that the requirement is too much for fresh graduates like us. It seems we must hav an Msc before we get a job. Oppurtunities should be available for all before we could obtain our Msc too. Thanks
thanks for the job oppotunities you are creating to help alleviate the unemployement problems now prevalent.for those of us who are yet to attain the masters level but are graduates of humanities, any chance for our application to be considered?

Cheers,
Proff
SORRY THIS IS LONG BUT IT JUST HAD TO BE……
NIGERIAN GRADUATES…why art thou messing us up like this? Im greatly disappointed and really concerned at some graduates’ style of thinking……..I will just flow and I dont care over much wat you think about my opinion.. but why are young Nigerian graduates so foolishlly ambitious? One, for those of you shouting bout Masters Masters Masters degree, cant you see/ reasonably conjecture that this is a recruitment program for 2009, other recruitments may be done in subsequent years and really the world bank doesnt care who you are…(remember Paul Wolfowitz had to resign for Robert Zoellick) if you want to work in there in a year or two years today, then plan on meeting the minimuim requirements they need. Some one was also suggesting something about 1st class, 2:1, 2;2 or 3rd class being treated equally… mind you all fingers are not equal. some indigenous Nigerian companies may want the best Nigerians brains to forge ahead, people who can think and who have proved from their first degree transcripts that they are ‘hot’ ….so give it to them…….the geniuses or first class or 2:1guys what ever you wish to call them..some of them truly worked for it….. some of them got it through the back door, whichever, time will obviously tell the truth…when or how shouldnt be anybody’s kettle of fish…..Ive met very sharp 2:2 and 3rd Class guys too, some of whom are victims of circumstances (you know what I mean) but some really deserved it…..although brilliant, their priority in school was momentary pleasure, fun, and all sorts (you can name it) but relegated their primary reason in school- their academic study to the second… so they worked for what they got…please dont get me wrong..pleasure is good, some fun isnt all that bad…but my dear you got to use your senses…nobody aint going to teach you how to use it…. Above all those who are qualified should please apply. You may be lucky, you may not be…you dont even know if they need just 10 Nigerians (I hope they need more than five) but Im just too sure applications from Nigeria will be 50,000 and over which means it’s not even sure with your MSc (for those who have it)……and to those asking questions like I have a BSc can I apply, I have ICAN can I apply, I’m a computer professional….I have this, that………….Im sorry but…if you read the advert and understood the detalis…..then you will quite agree that those questions are least expected from an average Nigerian graduate who has had all his/her education (primary, secondary, tertiary, etc) in English language……dont you get it……..The minimum requirements have been set by the ‘World Bank’ ‘World Bank’ not ‘Village Bank’ or ‘Town Bank’ or ‘City Bank’…. for God sake the World Bank is made up of highly educated professionals from all over the world, (USA and Europe have the largest stake in this bank if you think you have the connection of the greats’ Okonjo Iweala / Oby Ezekwesili)…they know what they need /want …..if you dont meet or have them then go have some coffee and find your way else where. You can be successful without ever setting your feet in the world bank…and I mean very successful……but you have to work hard my folks….and originality will give you great credit too…..so please lets forget this issue bout world bank………….but before then, graduates … GRADUATES…PLEASE IMPROVE ENGLISH LANGUAGE COMPREHENSIO- brighter grammer would not be a bad idea…you can read the series over and over, it can help you…afterall learning is an unending thing. we all keep learning. Im quite sure I may have made a chunk of foes here…but please guys give it to me ……..Its the truth NIGERIAN GRADUATES NEED TO IMPROVE, TO REPRESENT, AND STOP MESSING US ALL UP BEFORE THE WORLD BANK….Please and please write something wise here and thats if you must write.
Hatss off to the proff guy and few other original guys up there……..Nigerian graduates please stop messing us up..WE GOT BRAINS IN THIS COUNTRY.
I have an MBA from Havard University. I am only 24 years old but have also had 3 years of professional work experience as a manager with Barclays Bank UK. Other qualifactions include, BSc, ACCA, CIM. Can I apply for this role??
if applications are treated fairly and on merit i believe it will be better.
Anyway,i believe in practical knowledge either degree or diploma and whatever but you must know what you are doing first as for me i have HND in certificate but in my field no one can push me aside.
cheers

I see this as an opportunity. but why it it for people of 32 years. I think the bank shpould reconsidered people with lower age.
I see this as an opportunity. Why is it strictly for 32 years of age. I think the bak should reconsidered this
Bose 78, I think you should go back and read the advert again. It’s not meant “strictly” for 32-year-olds.
