      2. on 28 May 2008 at 7:57 am2Thani

Yeah, its good an opportunity like this is comming up.
But, what suprises me is the way & manner all of these companies allow only those with Upper Credit & above to apply for this vacancies. I would want to @ this juncture move a motion that all graduates should be given the opportunity to apply.
We are all good. Give us a chance to prove ourselves.God Bless NIGERIA.
        Thanks & GOD Bless.

Bravo Careersnigeria! You guys are just good and u deserve nothing less of an accolade. It’s dishearthening to learn that some Nigerian companies /companies operating in Nigeria are bedevilled with this age-long issue of unnecessary discrimination against graduates who neither belong to the “upper-credit” class nor the “first-class” group. When it comes to recruitment excercises, they are treated like social lepers as if they have been proven to be incompetent. They set unnecessary limits like age etc. My appeal is that you (CAREERSNIGERIA) as an outsourcing consultant must continue the good work and advise (EMPLOYERS) to treat all graduates equally. I have been a victim severally (even with my 2.2 in App.Geology). I only hope & pray that somebody who can make a difference is reading this.

      10. on 28 May 2008 at 9:54 am10shakirat

does it mean people wit lower grade can not apply 4 jobs in Nigeria or anyway it should not b so,people lower grade are at times better off than higher grade humans, why nt try everybody to take the best out.Tk K!

While is it that is only those with OND/HND? Does it mean that Degree holders of B.Sc and Engrs will no longer find a place to work in the oil sector again?

Whether its a 2.1, 2.2, 3rd Class, or even a Pass, i feel every graduate should be given a chance to prove him or herself. Afterall we know how some scholars obtained their degrees e.g those that have god-fathers in school, those that paid for their degrees, those that have lecturer or HOD parents etc. As far as i’am concerned, its how you can add value to the company and not what you scored while in the university. It is proven that men are stronger when it comes to doing practical and theoritical aspects of the job, while women can handle theoritical aspects of the job only. Only a hand full of them can actually stand the test of time. So please lets stop this VIRUS called GRADE discrimination.

Hello! This is quite fantastic. It beats my wildest imagination for a job opening in an oil company that seeks O.N.D./H.N.D. holders and their equivalent. careersNigeria, you’ve been great all along doing a cute job about keeping graduates abreast of job ads as they pop up. But can’t this oil company give chances to the IT field? As for me, I read Computer Science in school(HND) and I’ll like to benefit from this opportunity. Cheers and good luck to all!

      43. on 30 May 2008 at 11:14 am43ubong

I want to thank the management of Elf Petroleum Nigeria Ltd(TOTAL) for giving Polytechnic graduates the opportunity to show case their talent in a multinational. I want to suggest to the management of TOTAL not to limit their search net to only OND/HND graduates of yesterday. The management should rather base their selection on age and not date of graduation. For instance, I made my OND(UPPER CREDIT IN CIVIL ENGINEERING) at the age of 17 in 1999 but because of this graduation time, I can’t be part of this history now. Well for those that theirs fall within this range kudos to you guys and may the Almighty God see u guys through.

Hello all! It’s a great joy that this opportunity is opened for young graduates and I’m happy for all and sundry though I can’t apply because I read Computer Science (H.N.D. with Upper Credits) but all the same, I wish every potential engineer will fly high and soar with the birds in the sky. Lest I forget, I’ll like to suggest to Total and all other employers of labour to also allow for those with lower grades because in the actual sense, quite a number of factors could be responsible for lower grades in our tertiary institutions which we all know. Besides, one sure fact is that most of these lower-graders are pretty good stuff in the field. Likewise, I’ll like to beseech these oil companies to consider Computer Scientists like me in their next job opening. Tanx and good luck to all!

      48. on 30 May 2008 at 6:11 pm48Lois Epelle

GOOD JOB,WELL DONE ,KEEP IT UP,BUT WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO HAVE OPENINGS FOR MANAGEMENT AND SOCIAL SCIENCE GRADUATES.

      49. on 31 May 2008 at 11:20 am49Adebola

Pls stop the discrimination, the grades we acquire in nigerian universities are not a function of what we possess but what we are circumstances of. The virus destroys the phsycological confidence of most graduates victimised. I the virus is curbed early enough before it is too late. I think it is best you tell the universities not to have graduates with grades less than a 2.1??!! Maybe it will make more sense

      55. on 01 Jun 2008 at 12:44 am55Nonso

The concern to help nigerian youths secure job from different oil sectors is encouraging but i really have this burden in me. Does is mean that pple that read related courses to Petroleum engineering like Environmental engineering has no job opportunities in an oil sector?Every advert Centres on chemical, petroleum, geology…..but no environmental. HSE is needed in oil sectors and this should be put into consideration to ensure safe operation and safety of the personnel at their workplace.

Thanks for giving room for HND holders to proof them self, I think if other organisation allow HND other to impact their knowledge in the development of the organisation, the problem of this descrimination will be limit in our society and also the social science field should be consider, particularly the accounting field.

This is a good development, giving the HND graduate chance to proof their worth. But this issue of first class, second class should still be looked into. I think every graduate should be giving equal opportunity to proof their worth.

it’s a great opportunuity to have this kind of a thing in nigeria without sentiment. i just believe that the recruitment excercise will be based on merit. thank you …

      85. on 07 Jun 2008 at 1:53 pm85Jasmin

thank yu anyway.Yu guys specified that his opportunity was only openned to HND/Nd graduates alone, but to my greatest surprise there is no room for schools from the polytechnic angles, wen yu click on other university ,yu dont find a single polytechnic so how do i apply

      86. on 08 Jun 2008 at 12:19 am86chikaakabusi

tanx 4 the wonderful opportunity to fresh graduate.

      87. on 09 Jun 2008 at 2:18 pm87dapo

I strongly believe in self esteem and self confidence, grade or degree of class should not be a criteria for employment in science engineering and technology. After all develop countries like america and the rest don’t believe in certificate but skills and talents, strongly believe that poly graduates should be given the opportunities in oil companies irrespectful of their grades or class.

      88. on 09 Jun 2008 at 5:41 pm88Ajet

Its very okay and more grace to your elbow.
My advice is give all the gradutes a chance don’t descriminate.
        May God help

Greetings to all in the House! I believe carefully going through an advert is very important or you could miss something vital. It would do a world of good to be careful when scanning through the ‘Qualification/ attribute’ that said, ” 2007/ 2008 or EARLIER WHO HAS NOT PARTIPATED in EPNL’s Recruitment Process BEFORE”. I hope this observation will brigthen some faces out there. CHEERS!

      99. on 13 Jun 2008 at 4:04 pm99olatunde olajide .j

I believe it will come to a time this issue of discrimination will stop against polytechnic graduates, any way i want you to provide more jobs opportunities for the HND graduates ,i believe they have something upstairs to offer than their universities counterpart.
