Jobs for Graduates: Graduate Standardisation Examination

  • Jun 30,2008 by Careers Nigeria

Careers Nigeria is proud to present The Graduate Standardisation Examination (GSE). Born at a time when corporate organizations have resorted to aptitude tests for all graduate entry level applicants, the GSE is the widely accepted standard examination that replaces aptitude tests for Member Organizations.

Today, GSE scores are accepted by a host of organisations who want to increase their quantum, speed and frequency of graduate hire. More employers are converting to the GSE standard which engenders equal opportunity, meritocracy and fairplay.

The GSE offers graduates a one stop shop for their pre-employment testing and ensures that graduates ONLY have to write one set of tests at a convenient exam centre, instead of travelling accross the country, risking their lives, writing tests for different companies, not to mention the financial costs involved.

Graduates are strongly encouraged to sign up for the Graduate Standardisation Exams and then apply for graduate jobs - as their chances of finding employment is higher with this unique service.

      10. on 30 Jun 2008 at 11:00 am10GSE Information

GSE is in the process of integrating with many recruitment websites. To understand what this means, visit www.ubacareers.com and click on Graduate Hire. It allows applicants apply from wherever they are, as long as they have sat their GSE.

      11. on 30 Jun 2008 at 11:05 am11Bimbo

People are really thinking. I live in Kaduna and I have attended 3 tests so far in Lagos. God knows how difficult it was. Till now I did not even hear from them. I do not even know how I performed. From the info they have. they said we will get info on our scores. its good so that at least I know.

My prayer is just for other employers to use it and be true to it.

      12. on 30 Jun 2008 at 11:26 am12Adebumola Victor Olusegun

      20. on 30 Jun 2008 at 8:01 pm20macpowel

No problem if it will really work.Your company should ensure that age factor will not be the determining factor for recruitment.

      21. on 30 Jun 2008 at 9:05 pm21Alpacino

well, how can we get started?…
writing d exam and passing is not wat really matters now. The problem is “will it be recognised by these companies?”…

pleaseeeeeees! it high time they stopped fooling us around.
        lets just hope and pray.

      22. on 30 Jun 2008 at 10:18 pm22Aina Olawale Peter

nice initiatives.Pls I need information like actual cost? Is it #5000 or #7000, pls does d cost include materials and where is their office in Lagos. Kudos to careers nigeria 4 giving credibility to dragnet nigeria.

      30. on 02 Jul 2008 at 8:21 am30emovon

please,i need information about GSE;the centres, where to register and other vital information

      31. on 02 Jul 2008 at 8:23 am31GSE Information

dj, this is not exploitation, quite the opposite as you will see from the responses to the other comments.

deji et al, the reality is that the cost of job searching will never be zero Naira. On average across Nigeria, it costs N2,500 each way to travel for 1 test with 1 employer, depending on where you are traveling from and to. The GSE allows Graduates to pay once, sit one test at their nearest accredited test centre, and apply pre-tested to a large number of employers, without additional expense, over a two year period.

The SME’s have jumped on this through the EDS in Lagos Business School, where almost 5,000 small & medium sized companies can now reach tested grads, but we continue to chase the big names: (see www.dragnetnigeria.com/vacancies.aspx
See www.ubacareers.com (click on Graduate hire)
        See www.skyebankng.com/skye_online.php
GT Bank has started to call graduates for interviews, based on their GSE scores (those that applied at www.dragnetnigeria.com/vacancies.aspx).

Nigerian companies are showing us that they really believe in fairness and meritocracy, and the GSE is unravelling a lot of truth. Some HND holders are scoring as much as 68% while at the same time second class upper grads are scoring anything from 82% to 14%. With GSE, companies set a cut-off mark, making it difficult for “connection”.

Save money, sit the GSE, improve your visibility to more and more employers. Apply for jobs with your GSE ID either on the specific company’s website or at www.dragnetnigeria.com/vacancies.aspx

We simplify the job search process and save on cost, for both applicants and employers.

      32. on 02 Jul 2008 at 8:34 am32GSE Information

        Wole,
The cost is N5,000. A small number of sample questions are provided on the website.

Lagos has 1 centre in Lekki (Dragnet Test Centre). A new centre has been furnished in Surulere, inside the NYSC Secretariat. This centre will be commissioned this month and will allow job seekers browse recruitment websites only, free.

        Emovon,

      42. on 03 Jul 2008 at 1:44 pm42Osho

Its a nice initiative but, it is very necessary that u let us know the firms/organizations u are partnering with so as to convince us. There are just too many opportunist out there that sees unemployment in Naija as an avenue to defraud. Its not just enough to tell us of ur offices all over but let these organization that would use ur service associates themselves with the GSE. Moreso, considering the number of unemployed graduates we have in Naija, 5000.00 is too much. We are job seekers! Greatest Nigerian Graduates Beware!!!

      43. on 03 Jul 2008 at 5:06 pm43abanjo

I must confess dat de amount is high for an immediate graduate job seeker like me.

      67. on 25 Jul 2008 at 11:36 am67Tessy Ilechie

Its a nice idea anyway but the fact that we will write an exam is what baffles me. Are the questions going to be like the normal GMAT questions? I really need an answer to my question in other to know where to start from. Thanks

      68. on 27 Jul 2008 at 8:49 am68princewill Ode Odum

This is good news for an I.T driven recruitement. Void of all forms of nigeria factors. Hope it will spread to all cities in Nigeria and not Just only lagos, Abuja and PH.

      70. on 30 Jul 2008 at 9:48 am70Sanni Arif

Its indeed a great idea, it will definitely help we young, fresh and resourceful graduate reduce the too much stress of job palaver in Nigeria. But if I may ask, can we meet some of the beneficiary’s of this program. Just to know how authetic it is. Thanks GSE

      71. on 03 Aug 2008 at 10:58 pm71stanley A.O

Wel i am glad atlist we are making a step. but my question is this house, this STEP is it for better or for worse please some one help me here

      72. on 18 Aug 2008 at 8:45 am72love

Goodday Mr GSE, having gone through the whole comments, i did not find any
one testifying of how this GSE thing has worked for him or her. Does it mean no one has gotten a job with it? then how do you convince us that this GSE thing really works. What am saying here is that we need testifiers comments to convince and motivate those of us who are interested in this GSE exam. Another thing i like to know is, is there a GSE Book in form of GMT that one can study before going for this exam? what and what do we study before going for this exam. And i think it will be better if u can provide us with an account number to pay in this money because using ATM is quite risky. Though your price is on the high side but if we are sure of getting a job with this GSE score then one can actually risk it. I really need an answers to my questions. Thanks

      73. on 01 Sep 2008 at 5:38 pm73AKINLOSOTU MORENIKEJI

Please, how does this work. Thank you.

      74. on 02 Sep 2008 at 4:39 pm74amadi

A whole lot of nonsense. Why pay for every thing in Naija?

      75. on 06 Sep 2008 at 2:00 pm75adeola

I need more examples on abstract reasoning and numerical reasoning. Please, kindly send it to my mail.

      76. on 13 Nov 2008 at 9:11 am76dan

I wrote the test and i got a pretty good score. However, I hv not been invited by any company till date even though I applied to many organisations using the gse score. I hv not seen, heard or read of anybody gettin a job thru this test. So I dont realy know if the thing is real or its another means of making money off job seekers
