Ernst & Young is a global leader in assurance, tax, transaction and advisory services.
At Ernst & Young, we are passionate about helping our people to achieve their potential. When our people achieve their best, so do our clients. We aim to have a positive impact on businesses and markets, as well as on society as a whole.
Ernst & Young Nigeria is currently recruiting for exceptional graduates.
What is next for your future?
If you have a minimum of Second Class Upper or its equivalent in any discipline and have completed your NYSC programme, please send your application, CV and copies of credentials to: recruitment@ng.ey.com with Subject “Graduate Trainee”
Deadline is July 17th 2008.

I wish to commend your company for presenting opportunities for graduates to start of their careers. However, I feel that as an assurance company (pardon me, if i am wrong) your “discipline” requirements should be limited to those in management sciences, social sciences or disciplines that embrace assurance, tax, finance etc. so as to give it a professional touch. When Oil companies or engineering companies are recruiting, they don’t list a position and then say “any discipline”, instead, they usually leave such positions open for those in “engineering” or some “branches of sciences” like geology etc.
Chalibra stop showing your ignorance to the whole world. I cant start explaining to you but thats the way it should be or do u expect the oil company to employ an accountant to design oil riggs for them. Just think about it there is nothing that they do in Ernst and Young ( An accounting and Financial services firm) that a SMART graduate from any field can’t learn on the job in the shortest possible time. I know for I speak from experience .
Henry (BSC Geograpphy, MSC Finance and Investment)
that dude, chalibra or whatever is name is should please go and get another UME form… he needs to be schooled!
Chalibra, which institution did u attend? I guess it must be one of those backyard institutions… pls. shut ur mouth if u aint gat nothing to say! plssssss….
What a shallow minded individual Chalibra is…..No further comment.
u guys shouldnt insult chalibra like dat.He has a right to make a comment, however stupid it may be n should be given a polite answer too.
Chalibra plz jst apply if u are qualified and stop being an alarmist. A company wants to recruit and here u are telling them the type of people to employ, go and open ur own company to have that kind of power.
Out of 5 responses, 4 showed dat they are not schooled (civilized), while Oluchi showed manners.shame
Ehizojie, d comments dat i made will not affect anyone from registering or change d company’s stand on who they want to hire. I only made a comment and i feel that it should be respected no matter how it sounds. Or don’t i have the right to bare my mind…
u pple should be civilized and pragmatic enough not to rain abuses on pples personality.Chalibra was only entitled to his own opinion. Pls u just hv to keep ur heads high and be focus minded. The future u see determines the one u can feature in! One love
everyone is free to express his or her opinion concerning whatsoever issue, however the bottomline remains that whoever is interested, should humbly apply.
Respondents 1-9 should sheath their swords. The bottom line is we should all go out and apply. But if you ask me, i strongly believe Chalibra is entitled to his or her opinion however appalling or appropriate. We should stop the castigations! Wishing you all the very best of success.
FEMI KUSHIMO (Zenith Bank PLC)
chalibra,i respect your opinion and i can assure u dat does commenting otherwise r graduate with science course, not to worry guyz dont get scared, the company wont change their mind cos of just chalibra’s comment, but, just like we do not expect the oil company to employ an accountant to design oil riggs for them,we shouldnt except a finance company to recruit an engineer to be its accountant….its just logic but we know in Nigeria…anything goes,so no wahala.Good luck to all
All that as piqued and insulted chalibra are not fit to be employed at all. These are the kind of group Charles Soludo was refering to “UNemployable”. Why do you have to blame someone like OBJ when u have similar attributes to the him.
Ernst & Young is a global leader in assurance, tax, transaction and advisory services. By ADVISORY SERVICES, it implies this organization can render services ranging from Aviation to Plumbing as long as they have experts in these fields.
Nigerian Graduates kwenuu!! That’s y I like us. I personally enjoy reactions and counter-reactions, at least, that shows we are learned people. However, that does not mean that we do not have our freedom of expression. It is individualistic.
ONE HOUSE, PLSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!! ONE LOVE!
lozeron watever , grow up, discuss & attack issues if u lk not personalities!
Some of the reactions brought on by chalibara’s comments could have been avoided if we applied the principles of rhetoric. One of the cardinal rules is that we must always focus on the issue and avoid personal attacks.
No respondent commented on whether or not firms like Ernst and Young should employ graduates across all fields, or if they do so why. Consequently, anyone reading would gain nothing from the debate, if it can be regarded as such.
I personally am curious and would like to know why the company and its competitors have this policy, and if it is thesame in other parts of the world.
chalibre or wat do u cal urself, i stil think u stink cos u cant detect wat a company wants for its recruiters, they have special advisers 2 advice dem on wat ever nd dey have givin d whole world opportunities to apply, shouldnt u be happy dat it came from all areas of discipline? or are u dat daft… despite ur rights to free comments…….. b reasonable. others in d house, one love….. ERNST AND YOUNG. thanks for d golden opportunity…
LOL HA! HA!! HA!!!
chalibre am sorry for all the insults u received those guy are just being mean , but i really enjoyed ur spat sha!!!! u guys should do it again lol
. Just apply for the job
everybody should shut d fuck up . wait until u r calld 4 aptitude test n stop yelling at one another. go read ur Gmaths
good,thanks
thanks. i hope this one works for me
Well guys,
i agreed much wth all comments and response chalibra has received and dont think there is much to add to it, more so, chalibra himself who sounded foolish and myopic intially later came out to sound civilized in taking criticism. there is a lesson here 4 us all and our leaders too. if we can take criticism in it context and faced issue at hand, lots of unneccesary fights could be avoided. again, it should be noted that for graduates of sciences and engineering, they stand a better chance from crossing their field to other fields. from the responses, this is quite obvious, though most of them didnt say it outrightly bcos it pays them. However, why cross from d field u spent atleat 5 yrs in d Uni 4? if not for job scarcity and economic regression.
keep up pals
awoshakin
thanks guys for the good work
U guys just stink… I mean all of u.
Don’t u read what u write before u post ‘em?
U just focus on castigating one another and can’t even spell stuff correctly.
Na wa 4 una
Is a good one due yet to apply, reason best known to me. thanks
HENRY, its only a moron that will employ you to prepare financial statement when you are not an accountant. so mind your profession
Hello Guys
What’s this polemical arguement all about, need i remind respondents that this is a house, of course one house where candor and decorum must be maintained. for crying out laud we all have the right to make observation, I have learnt a great deal from other respondents in this site. Please let give Chalibra a chance. One House, One Love!
I am ashamed to know dat some “graduates” on this forum stilll can not read, digest what they ‘ve read and interprete it without raising fists. I wonder what will happen when companies like Ernst & Young, calls successful canditates for the proper interview and a lot of people will blow their chances just because they cant understand what they were asked. Graduates pls learn to read in btw the lines and give a reasonable response when your opinion is neeeded. Chalibra u raised a very good point and those who are wise will ponder on it, as it is now, it may even be a good point to raise during interviews for your interviewers. Remember only Graduates dat are exceptional will be considered, not always according to your GP!
Dear all,
I can see your concerns with Chalibra’s statement. A few respondents are of the opinion Chalibra is entitled to an opinion, this is true and others believe this environment is not for particular individuals like Chalibra, this, I believe is not true (you may not agree)
The point, as Roy Keane may have identified, but did not elaborate on, (1) we should avoid confrontation and tackle the significant issue (2). Why should Ernst and Young employ graduates from all fields? I will begin with the former and then try to provide answers to the latter.
Most of the respondent avoided Chalibra’s concerns, but preferred to attack personality. In my view, this most time makes individuals to miss the point in any area of disagreement, and it could make you spend constructive hours on one issue without achieving any result. I have notice this attitude among co-workers in offices. Furthermore, we should bear in mind that learning is a continuous process and no man is an epitome of knowledge. We should learn to correct people when we feel they are wrong without being hostile. Many individuals have lost a job because of this particular character attribute. An example is let’s say you get the Ernst and Young job, and you had to deal with a client that had different views from yours, would you shower insult on him/her? (Hope you get the point now). This will take me to the latter.
Ernst & Young as observed by some respondents is a global leader in assurance, tax, advisory services etc. They sought after graduates in any discipline (like our banks of today), because they are more interested in your intelligence, smartness and assertiveness and other attributes which you may bring to the company than just having a qualified discipline. They then train you on areas they believe you can perform best, that is why it is a “Trainee Program”. Watch “the apprentice” This may give you an idea what companies like Pricewaterhouse Coopers , Accenture, and Ernst and Young sought after in a prospective employee.
I want to conclude by encouraging us to continue to work together and help others in their area of deficiency. Remember, “No man is an epitome of knowledge”
Best wishes,
Proff
You people should not blame yourselfs or unleash assaults on each other instead we should think of reforming labour market or be Job creators so that more jobs will be created, if all is well in this Nation what would an Engineer be doing in a financial firm or a management graduate doing in an Engineering firm, mind you the choice is for you “job seekers” why not look for job that has relevance to your course of study so that you can grow and get to the peak of your proffession, what does it profit an Engineer to be a Business markerter for 15 years in Ernst & young while his collegues in an Engneering firm must have advanced.
Yo! Lets not fight one another, instead lets take the fight to the government, how can’t find solution to job scarcity! One luv yo!
tahx!
You all should know that is only engineers that can pass most company test. They are very smart, intelligent, creative, sharp, and apply ingenuity in any environment they are. Talk more of the ones that made 2.1, wow!!! Please, respect them. They are really good at all fields of work, they can fit in anywhere, any place and any job.
I will highly delighted if i,m invited for this job test
I will be highly delighted if i,m invited for this job test
Hi. I think most of u guys lack so much in terms of knowledge & exposure. Do u guys think d employers of labour have d time 2 check d comments on sites as careersnigeria.com & co? U guys need 2 grow up & enhance urselves, instead of burning ur time on sites as this insulting others.
Reptile u r a “nincompoop”, uv gat no brain at all! So also is Lorenzolatino and Lanre. I wonder what u guys do at d moment! U better apply for this & stop being a public nuisance.
In a way I guess Istarted this by not taking time out to explain to Chalibra, Pls accept my sincere apology. Back to the issue the practice of firms employing graduates from all discipline its a global thing and not just Nigeria alone. Personally I don’t see anything wrong in it as the firms themselves understand that you can be trained to perform a particular job function which is not hinged on your previous knowledge. And the obvious truth again is that people from natural science background could easily switch field not because they are more intelligent but rather because knowledge in the social sciences are in BLOCKS. You can start anytime and in less than a year you can know as much as specialiist of that field, whilst this is not thesame the other way round. If a candidate lack the basis of elementary chemistry or physics , then such will require morethan a year of on the job training to learn , a luxury employers cant afford.
Lastly, I also know for certain that banks and other accounting firms dont employ candidates from natural sciences as accountant rather they employed in other less professional job functions.
Abdul well am sorry that you think its a moron that will employ me to prepare financial statement. Again its obvious you do not know the difference between Accounting and Finance. Ofcourse they are related but they are different I am a financial Analyst by knowledge and by profession and part of my work functions does not involve preparing financial statement rather I interprete, analyse, investigate and make forecast ; all based on the financial statement prepared by an accountant.
Have you wondered what the difference is between ACCA and CFA? The first is an institute for chartered Accountant and the second an institute for Chartered financial analyst, while I don’t belong to the first I’m happy to inform you that ‘m a student of the latter.
HOUSE! SHEATH YOUR SWORDS…
Henry man! You took those last two posts outta ma mouth… Chalibra, sorry for all the puns and bashing you got. To all the guys in the house, this is a lesson in paying attention to details… the minutest detail matters in everyday dealing; guys don’t jump the gun!!!
u guys confuse me just abit but then it sounds very interesting. althesame if the if its stil open i wld like to apply.
Hi guys,
Pls stop blaming calibra. He only tried to clarify what was not clear to him and called our attention to what should be considered by all, afterall this is a discussion forum isn’t it?I pray that all of us will be gainfully employed and the purpose of this site will not be defeated. Take care
problem is here! Thousands looking for a few places. O! my God, help the needy.
just enjoy the the drama chalibra has created. Nigerian graduates are indeed intellectual………….keep it up.
The main purpose of this comment section is to enable dramas like this to take place… its so good that we are now maximising this section with less people posting CV’s and all.Keep it up graduates, am proud of you all. scroll through all the arguments and you will see that aristotle and co have colleagues in Naija…Kudos to you alll guys… Im proud of you…There is hope for the Nigerian Graduate
All we are saaaaaaaaaaaying, give us a chance,is the gospel being spread by calibra
Calibra must be a genius to be talked about for over 45 comments tread. U should start your website now that you’re famous Calibra- at least the worries of traffic will be out of it. To others persons, just grow up and learn to respect others.
Thanks to this wonderful site for their contribution in aiding Nigerian graduates for job search.may their purpose never be defeated.may God richly reward their effort.your guys are really trying by bringing informations to our door steps.
hello here! what is strange about chalibra’s opinion Henry, that’s why it is called an opinion, you din’t have to reply him/her.
chalibra has little knowledge about Ernst&Young does not make him/her an idiot.Subsequent replies were based on Henry’s kindled FIRE.Let eligible and interested ones’ apply.Chalibra all the best in life, its a continuing learning process.
Chao
Thanks to this wonderful site for their contribution in aiding Nigerian graduates for job search.may their purpose never be defeated.may God richly reward their effort.your guys are really trying by bringing informations to our door steps.keep the flag flying
henry, lanre and solar or whatever you call your names, you all exhibited the qualities of a graduate with no plans for development.I term all of u as being desperate and frustrated as per u are all applicants.PLZ leave chalibra alone
chalibra am sorry, dats y people are different and reason in diff ways. i wish all of us the best.
chali boy,abi wetin dey call u.sorry for the insults and abuses.you should have known that there exist the spirit of aluta on the web epecially from angry job seekers.watch it next time or else……….
anyway chali, like bimbo said am sorry for all the insults you received.takia.one love my people.
ha! ha! ha! ha!, I believe all of you above are young graduates just joining the labour market. The advise is that, do not waste your time commenting, typing or lamenting. Just apply for any job you see anywhere and move on. Well you all will soon get tired of all this shit………….The company in question or any company do not see all this comments. Its only the person or persons that manage this website or any other websites that advertize jobs. Welcome to the world……………………………
I think there is what we call freedom of speech, which I believe is not a crime.. We should all be working on ways of getting a job and stop attacking your fellow Nigerian graduate… Mr. Henry if you claim to be a professional I see no reason why you should be here. We should be makin vital suggestions and not fighting one another. I am praying that we all get employed that way there won’t be room for fighting and all that non sense. I wish you all my brothers in the house goodluck in the quest for a job…. See me as your broda
As far as I’m concerned, Chalibra didn;t say anything wrong…he or she actually made a good arguement. However annoying it sounds its not bull…….but this is Nigeria we are talking about……everybody works in the bank…all you need is some good contact..and you can actually work as a medical doctor with a Vetinary certificate….so y’ll can stop bitching
Kindly give every one that has applied an equal chance to prove thier worth. Thanks
yo, master! ur the man!
Hi OBULE et al when I came on this site I did not intend to make a drama out of it that was why I later apologised. And pls the likes of Obule should stop making the assumption that every visitor on this site is a fresh graduate that is desperately seeking a job. I speak for myself, I work as an Analyst in the city of London and I have seven yrs working experience under belt, yeah let me get there I am a visitor to this site at this time cause time allows me for now as i am on holiday and also because I planning to relocate back home to Nigeria hence the need for me to search for job opportunities.
I just wish some young Nigerian graduates out there will try and think a bit outside the circle before making comment.
U can call me for a chat later (+44)07951656673
Sorry Obule for missing the point . This site is for job seekers and who says a gainfully emoployed person cannot be a jobseeker?. Anyway if you must know ‘m on this site not as fresh graduate desperately seekin employment rather as an experienced (7 yrs ) Nigerian in diaspora hoping to relocate home.
+009447951656673 give me a call.
The opportunity is challenging, I am interested
Henry, apologise properly and dont try patronising us!
No one cares about u having one degree or the other, be it in Nigeria or the Diaspora. I wonder what use your B.Sc & M.Sc is if you cant bring understanding and help to someone else, even with your so called seven years “experience”. Now dat the heat is on you, we are receiving History lessons from the diaspora. Spare me the details!
while i understand the fact that everyone is entitled to an opinion,chi…..whatever sounded condescending hence the attacks.though that’s not reason enough for personal attacks,i can understand where the others are coming from.goodluck to everyone!
Lets move forward guys. Its so childish here, besides I don’t think that these companies in question sees ur suggestions here. Send them a direct mail as provided in their relevant websites and maybe u’ll get a feedback. Not here please.
IDLE MINDS, DEVIL’S WORKSHOP.HOW LONG WOULD SOME OF YOU GUYS WAIT IN SEARCH OF A JOB THAT MIGHT NEVER COME? WAKE UP NIGERIAN GRADUATES.WE ALL CANNOT BE RECRUITED.BRACE YOURSELF UP AND USE THE MOST VALUABLE GIFT FROM GOD-YOUR BRAIN.
companies av a right to who they want to employ. pls give them a chance to do thier thing. thanks careersnigeria 4 all the current info cos information is power.
well i think u guy shld apply.why stroking each other, living the main issue out.think twice.gud day.
wale are you trying to say that applying for jobs makes us dumb?
Guys, what do you expect from someone called chalibra? He doesn’t have to say he is retarded before we acknowledge that. Anyway, let us all pray and fast, not for him to get the job, but at least, to be a bit normal upstairs.
I think it’s time we stop this almost useless argument. Companies like Ernst & Young are just interested in raw intelleligence- that’s why they don’t actually bother about what one read in school. They simply believe that their employees would learn the company’s way of doing things- on the job. Simple!
Am still suprised that up till now we ‘ve not Sheated our swords, the fight was formally between graduates of Engineering Versus graduates of Social Sciences/Management Sciences, infact the war has taken a different dimension, it is now between jobseeker(s) in Diaspora and jobseekers in Nigeria…lets me see what your answers will be to this question-do I sound like I am writing from Diaspora or writing from Nigeria?
I don’t want to include my telephone number just like Henry did because na expo to the question be dat.
ARBITRATOR,
I think you sound like someone writing from Sudan…….Ha,ha.ha
Hi evryone
i think we don’t need 2 fight with ourselves on issues like this.
chalibra has a right 2 talk and that should not cause for an alarm.
we all are entitled to different opinions on different issues but above all, lets all learn 2 do wat’s right and to make d best use of our time.
it’s good 2 work and also in a reputable company but not eveyone of us will have that opportunity but we all fail to realise that we are a genius in our own way so don’t just sit at home waiting for ernst&young to call u for interview.
start somewhere and you’ll make it.
wishing u all d best in life
love you all
THANX A LOT ERNST&YOUNG
KEEP THE GOOD WORK
Jay Jay take ur time o, anyway am still waiting 4 other peoples’ answer.
Jay Jay Na waa for you, You no be better person.
i think someone who works with Ernst&Young should leave a comment.please.
please can someone who works with Ernst&Yound leave a final comment to quench this fire.
May God be with you all.
henry i believe u shld act more than wat u write. experience they say is the best teacher. but i wonder what ur 7years experience has taught you. my advice is that you grow up and allow people express themselves freely. it was only an opinion and u reacted negatively.what if u were being interviewed? you be the judge!
kingsley (first bank)
regardless of what you study, you can work in a management firm anywhere. the big in th uk (pwc, kpmg, ernest and young, deloitte) recruit graduates with any discipline and that has not madde them any better than the’ve been or they are now. i have a first degree in bldg construction and a masters degree in financial management and now work in a bank in nigeria.with the way nigerian universities are, most pple study whatever course they are offered even if it differs from what they have always wanted to do. the point is you might hold a degree in sociology and if given the opportunity, you can perform exceptionally as an analyst.
i attended a career fair in the uk and trust me out of the big four as they are know, ernest and young staff impressed me the most. they didnt look at me like an illegal immigrant trying to work in the uk. its obvious they embrace diversity and that is the sort of company one shld work with.
gd everyone
Hi guys.U Can apply to any firm irrespective of ur discipline provided u av the right qualifications to apply.Lets b hopeful that those who applied wil b called 4 test and proably b taken in.All the best guys.
i am about rounding up my NYSC can i apply.By september i should be through with NYSC.Pls i hope to hear from you soon
Ok lets end all this stuff , though i think it was fun while it lasted especially since Henry who started it has apologised to Chalibra.Again i wish more of this happen often it was really fun. …. Lol, ha, ha
I think the likes of REGINE should first learn how to spell their names before making dumb and absurd remarks
Haba Mr Henry why do u like to look for trouble self, ‘m beginning to suspect you are purposely winding people up to get entertained since you claim you are on holiday and i suspect bored too. I think you are just an “agbaya”.
hey guys
i cant help but laugh, i believe there are some things not arguing or cursing about. apply for jobs that related to ur discipline or to the specification of the job advertized and don’t make a fuss abt wat the company shd and shd not do.
i know out of frustration, we have tendencies to go over board, and like most of the others have said, we r all entitled to our opinions but we are not entitled to impose our opinions on others. and we are also not entitled to rubbish people’s opinions. i still think everything boils down to information and knowledge, lets get facts right b4 suggesting and rubbishing
all the best in ur job hunts
b ez guys
With Henry’s last appalling coment regarding Regina (or is she really Regine?), it is now obvious that the guy does not usually think before he acts. I’m cocksure he’s sufferring from what can be aptly referred to ‘UTTERANCES EPILEPSY’! It is such an unfortunate speech-induced mental illness which often leaves its patient in a perpetually pitiable state. By the way, shall we pray for this our beleaguered fellow?
Its been wonderful lads great entertainment for free. I love you guys all if you were a victim of my attack, too bad i chose you. Its been worth my while i hope u guys find a job soon. Hopefully, i should return on my next holiday. Take care.
you guys are all fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuny
seeyou at the test center
Chalibra, you are the best. You raise a topical issue. However, know that in Nigerian Audit firms, your University degree could be in any field. You could still be employed if you have a 2/1 and can pass their rigourous qualifying exams. After you are employed you will be required to write professional exams in accounting. From there you are launched into the business world. So the advertisement is in order.
I am fresh. I however enjoy this family, the comments and everything. One thing is sure Chalibra is a hero. His comments made him popular and you guys really love him ‘cos everyone mentioned him. Let’s not drag issues. One Luv!
Its been a wonderfull time with you guys, Chalibra you can create awareness to yourself or make a living out of this by making controversial comments as in above, Social critic, afterall how do you think Gani became porpular today? by analysing and critisizing other peoples actions and ideas. Ok, my location is one of the great west African countries, Giant in the sun if you like, Naija! wishing every one who are job seekers “a career making job” in a growth oriented firm soonest, somebody say amen.
pls when is man u and arsenal playing this season at least if there is no job there should be pleasure and 4 u this unemployed baboons pls stop dragging issues and go and watch the devils, gunners, blues and reds abeg we no go kill ourselve.
Hey Folks,
Chalibra havnt said anything 2 bad 2b crucified. U’ve all got to shut the hell of ur mouths up and let the matter quench. apply if you want to.
One LUV.
Hi,
I believe its a waste of time going to the net to apply for jobs. This is as a result of the fact that you will come across all sorts of criteria debarring you from applying. Instances are; you must be a university graduate, you must have a 2-1, you must have 4 years experience e.t.c. These firms do not believe in raring the young ones at all. All they need is a READY MADE product. Its really unfair despite all they are getting from the economy. I have visited several sites I have not seen a firm that could accomodate a fresh NATIONAL DIPLOMA holder in CIVIL ENGINEERING with a DISTINCTION class. Na wa oh!!!
guy i believe every one is entitle to his/her opinion seen that no man’s food is the best or a standard to meassure with. so please let us learn to accept other peoples opinion no matter how stupid it looks like for each opinion has a leason to teach
PLS I WANT YOU TO NOTIFY ME WHEN U HAVE ANY VACANCY THROUGH MY E MAIL ADDRESS.
