Why do Nigerian graduates behave as if they are not schooled? An advert for a particular position and specified course of studies, but no way everybody in all spere of life is applying, that is why when you attend interviews you see millions of people there, one begins to wonder. See fellow comrades in the field, please try to attend to vacancy that applies to you, that is when we begin to put things right. An advice.

Hey! Francis, am surprised you are sounding this way. Are you a christain? i guess ure ‘cos of ur name. You sound like a selfish person, you better ask God for forgiveness for thinking like this about your fellow brothers & sisters. How can u explain a biochemist becoming a manager in a bank. Please think properly before you talk out foolish things.

francis, the most important thing is that u are a graduate and u believe in urself. it is all about creativity and focus. As a graduate one should be versed and should be ready to take responsibility in what ever form it comes. An Engineer can work in bank and work better than someone who read banking and finance

I think you all are getting it all wrong, Francis has a good point there….. we all know that most of us went to school to study some courses in the name of getting into the university. likewise, many of us are desperate to get jobs and so doing try to force square pegs into a round holes. I agree with Francis if it comes to specialised positions… but kinda disagree if the advert placed is for a mgt trainee…..

well, the issue of applying for jobs within your discipline is an ideal situation. It does not come to play in today’s Nigeria. While we search for available jobs, we can only pray that things work towards a better situation.

see not he dat runneth nor willeth but the lord that showeth mercy

      19. on 09 Sep 2008 at 2:05 pm19fristyon

i think francis is stupid and that goes for all of you………

Well, I agree with Francis to an extent. Folks that wants to make a difference in their chosen career should take up jobs relevant to their discipline and grow from there, with patience and hardwork, they will have whatever they want.
But a situation where one has decided to change his career after his university education, he/she is free to go to any job of his choice.
However, job satisfaction is very important. I have heard a couple of folks complain about their well paid job - not enjoying it and stressing them alot. I believe that anyone who is focused and determined to make a difference will stick to his guns until the right time comes for him/her.
Finally, the most important thing is doing the job. When you eventually get employed, you must have to do the job for the salary to come. Also, personal development will not be put aside at all, develop yourself for another better job or starting your business.
        Wishing all the best. lol

Francis, or whatever you call yourself, I’ve seen your comments on other pages on this website and I honestly believe it’s high time you stopped insulting people under the pretext of advising them. Firstly, you come across as someone who’s not so bright yourself, so I really don’t know why you think you have a divine right to talk down on other people. Secondly, your grammar is one of the worst I have seen on this website (or anywhere else), so please stop making out as if you’re one Professor of English. With regards to people applying for vacancies in their fields, the reality is that so many people are getting jobs in fields they are not trained in, just because they’ve got connections, so you should be attacking the companies and not the helpless applicants. One last point, as a graduate, you should be able to fit into any position except for the specialised ones; that, my friend, is the whole essence of going to University.
