DREDGE COORDINATOR
Job Description and Duties
The job is site based, and encompasses field and office work. It is expected that the Dredge Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that the technicians and labourers within his group adhere to HSE regulations.
Other Typical job functions and activities include:
* Responsible for inspection and day to day running / Operation of the dredger
* Responsible for planning and project management of major reclamation works, shore discharge operations, plan and setup floating pipes and booster pumps.
* Responsible for site functions on the next day programmes to ensuring sufficient work-front is available for the team and that engineering and quality standards are met.
* Record Man-hours spent on each operation.
* Ensure that materials are or will be available before time in order to avoid any interruption of the works.
* Initiate daily report for his part of work.
* Assist and report to the Project engineer / Section Engineer as required.
* On a large job, he will perform assigned activities in one discipline, interfacing with other disciplines in all areas of the job.
* Irrespective of the project size, he is expected to monitor material consumption by the foremen under his command, as well as the equipment hours spent on specific tasks
Experience & Requirements:
* HND or BSC in Mining /Civil Engineering with practical working experience in the running of a quarry both in Nigeria or Abroad.
* An MBA degree would be an added advantage.
* Not less than 30 years of age
* Minimum 10 years experience in operation and maintenance of dredgers
* Relevant certifications in the profession
* Must have worked in similar capacity in a top rate construction company in Nigeria or Abroad.
* Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and methods of dredging.
* Previous experience managing crews of 20 or more on dredging projects.
* Organisational skills, strong communication and high levels of motivation.
* Good numerical skills and knowledge in IT (computer) /Proficient in the use of Microsoft Packages, Internet etc.
* Analytical, self confidence and focused
