SCUK is recruiting a Senior Advisor for Community Participation in Basic Education Programme.
Overview: In anticipation of an upcoming funding opportunity, Save the Children UK’s Programme in Nigeria is recruiting for a Senior Advisor for a community participation in basic education component of an overall educational support project which will be implemented in 3-4 Northern states.
Key Responsibilities: The SCUK Senior Advisor will assume overall responsibility for providing technical support to the design, strategy, and implementation of the community participation and social accountability elements of this project. This will comprise a strategy of mechanisms for increasing community participation in the management of local education structures through school-based management committees, information and awareness campaigns, and engagement with local government structures to improve education quality and access for excluded children. The Senior Advisor may also provide support for building capacity of partner civil society organisations, and liaising with other consortium partners.
Qualifications: At least ten years experience managing large-scale programmes covering multiple areas of intervention. Proven expertise in the basic education sector, in good governance, and in community development programmes that emphasize grassroots approaches and address gender equity and other issues of exclusion. Extensive experience in building capacity of local organisations, facilitating coordination with a wide variety of stakeholders, and building effective coalitions. Excellent oral and written communication skills, experience managing large budgets, managing staff teams, and excellent networking and interpersonal skills.
